Newport News Crime Line – Week of October 14th, 2019


I’m MPO Brandon Maynard  The Newport News Police Department needs your help to solve a recent shooting.

On October 13th, 2019 at 4:02 AM, Newport News Police were dispatched to the area of 45th Street and Madison Avenue in reference to a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, identified as a 24 year-old Hampton man, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim stated he was shot in the 5000 block of Jefferson Avenue. He was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

It was reported by some patrons at a nearby restaurant that a dark-in-color vehicle started shooting from the street and drove away. There is no other vehicle descriptors nor any suspect information at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
