Aggravated Assault

I’m MPO Brandon Maynard .  The Newport News Police Department needs your help to solve a recent aggravated assault.

On February 11th, 2019 at 10:31 AM, Newport News Police were dispatched to the 900 block of 15th Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, a 55 year-old Newport News man, who stated that he had been shot by an unknown subject as he was driving near 14th Street and Wickham Avenue. The victim stated he observed two unknown males walking across the street approaching his vehicle. The victim pulled off quickly and heard a gunshot. A bullet struck his back window, went through the headrest and hit the victim. The victim immediately drove around the corner to the 900 block of 15th Street and called police.

The victim described the first subject as a black male, 18-19 years of age, thin build, and wearing a rolled up black skull cap. The second subject was only described as a black male. The victim was transported by medics to a local hospital for further treatment for his non-life threatening gunshot wound. The investigation remains ongoing.
