North Pole Night- Journey to the North Pole
25 Nights of Northern Lights

This holiday season City Center at Oyster Point will transform into the North Pole with a new, state-of-the-art, synchronized music and light show for the BayPort Credit Union 25 Nights of Northern Lights. On each of the 25 nights, December 1-25, visitors can enjoy a five minute, theatrical Holiday Magic Light Show, happening at the top of each hour from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM This show includes the Larry King Law Holiday Show Tree, a 42’ intelligent, color/pattern changing tree unlike anything seen before in the Hampton Roads area, along with a synchronized show where lights dance around the fountain to a festive soundtrack.

The new BayPort Credit Union 25 Nights of Northern Lights holiday event series at City Center will include three very special “North Pole Nights” on December 1, 8, and 15 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  These three Saturdays will feature entertainment, free activities, and special holiday surprises based on a different holiday theme each Saturday.

The first “North Pole Night” on December 1, 2018 will be the Journey to the North Pole and it will serve as the official opening of the BayPort Credit Union 25 Nights of Northern Lights. A ceremony with City officials at 5:50 PM will lead into the first presentation of the Holiday Magic Light Show with the Larry King Law Holiday Show Tree. Entertainers for Snow Pets will include the Academy of Dance (5:00 PM), Passage Middle School (6:10 PM), and the City Arts Dance Company (7:10 PM).

On each of the North Pole Nights, City Center restaurant patios will become Jingle and Mingle lounges with food and beverage specials and windows throughout the venue will be filled with special holiday displays created by community groups. Children can visit Santa’s Workshop, sponsored by City Center at Oyster Point, where children can meet Mr. & Mrs. Claus and see elves at work.  Free children’s crafts will be offered by Newport News Youth Programs and everyone can enjoy playing Winter Carnival Games.

Strolling entertainment will include Wacky Chad (juggler/comedy), Imagine Circus Performers, and a Walking Christmas Tree. North Pole Nights also offer guests the opportunity to take a short trolley ride to the new Holiday Inn for photo ops in the lobby with a beautifully decorated sleigh and special gifts for kids and adults – a stuffed animal for children 5 and younger, and sweet treats for older guests.  Local food vendors ($) will sell a variety of food and holiday snacks.

Special Holiday Magic Light Show wristbands will be given away to the first 3,000 people on each North Pole Night. These special CrowdSync wristbands will change colors and flash in synchronization with the light show on each of the North Pole Nights. The wristbands will be given out, while supplies last, on each North Pole Night beginning at 5:00 PM at the corner of Mariners Row and Fountain Way.
