The Community Outreach Division of the Newport News Police Department is designed to create a positive, ongoing, and creative working relationship with the members of our community. Our programs are designed to educate the community on the history of the Department and how the Department currently operates. We do so by operating a NNPD History Museum and by offering many community education programs to include, but not limited to, our Citizen’s Policy Academy, Senior Citizen’s Police Academy and Youth Leadership Camp. We also help organize Neighborhood Watch Programs so that we can better partner with community members in both preventing and solving crime. And, we coordinate the volunteer program at the Department, an essential component to our day-to-day operations.
