A zero-depth, color-lighted splash fountain accents the main entrance and the building was constructed with energy-saving features.
The seven multi-purpose rooms, ranging in occupancy of 30 - 200 people, are available for rentals (birthday parties, baby and wedding showers, wedding receptions, and meetings) and hosts Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism’s Instructional Classes (Art, Computers, Sewing, Personal Development, Music, and Nutrition) and Active Lifestyles (age 50 and up) fitness classes.
The two full-sized gymnasiums are utilized for sports leagues (Basketball, Field Hockey, Indoor Soccer, and Volleyball), tournaments (local, state, and national), an Active Lifestyles indoor walking program, open recreation activities (Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Pickleball) and special events. The center has lockers, a snack bar, and a lounge area.
A Middle School Afterschool Program (weekly fee of $59) is offered from 3-6:30 PM for middle school students Monday through Friday. Transportation is provided from Mary Passage and Dozier middle schools to the center. See here for Middle School Program registration information.
The Early Childhood Center, with an outside play area, offers a full-day (Monday - Friday, 6:50 AM - 6:30 PM) early childhood childcare curriculum-based program for potty trained children ages 3 and 4 (weekly fee of $95). See here for Early Childhood Program registration.
Active Lifestyle Clubs include Pinochle and Bridge. Open Recreation is offered in the gym, and includes pickleball, badminton, cornhole, and basketball.
