McKinley L. Price, DDS

Mayor McKinley L. Price, DDS, a Newport News native, was elected At-Large to the Newport News City Council in May of 2010. The Mayor presides over the meetings of the Council.

Robert S. Coleman

Vice Mayor Robert S. Coleman was elected to the Newport News City Council in May of 2012 and serves the citizens of the North District. The Vice Mayor performs the duties of the Mayor in his absence.

Herbert H. Bateman, Jr.

Councilman Herbert H. Bateman, Jr., has served the Central District of Newport News since July of 1998.

Sharon P. Scott

Councilwoman Sharon P. Scott was elected to the Newport News City Council in May of 2002 and serves the citizens of the North District.

Tina L. Vick

Councilwoman Tina L. Vick was elected to the Newport News City Council in May of 2008 and serves the citizens of the South District.

Saundra Nelson Cherry, D. Min.

Councilwoman Saundra Nelson Cherry, D. Min. was elected to the Newport News City Council in July of 2014 and serves the citizens of the South District.

Dr. Patricia P. Woodbury

Dr. Patricia P. Woodbury was elected to the Newport News City Council in May of 2008 and serves the citizens of the Central District.

The Newport News City Council meets regularly at 7:00pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month to take official action on matters brought before it. Council meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located behind City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.

Work Session

Work Sessions for City Council are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month prior to the regular City Council meeting in the City Council Conference Room on the 10th floor of City Hall at 2400 Washington Avenue, unless otherwise noted.
